June: From the President

Hello ABWA members!! How can it be almost July? Summer always goes by way too fast. I just got back from spending a week with my parents who live in Florida. Many people asked me, wasn’t it so hot?! Yes, it is hot, but when you are not working and have access to a pool, the heat is really no big deal….lol.

We had several members who had to miss our June meeting due to the bad storm we had the night before. I heard that some of our members were without power, had damage to their house, and/or were out helping family and friends. For those that were at our June meeting, we had a great time with our speed networking activity which included chocolate! Members and guests were able to spend time with 3 different women and learn more about each other. We had a lot of positive feedback on our comment cards.

We will look at doing this again since it was a smaller group. We had 2 of our guests join ABWA that day. Welcome Allison Cook and Veronica Houser to Women of Magnitude! Also, Lois Cook joined as a secondary member! If you are looking for more ways to get involved with your ABWA membership, there are a lot of opportunities coming up. This includes the DVP luncheon in July, Summer Sizzler in August and National Conference in CO in September. Please check out our website for more details and how to register.

Also, the new ABWA board will be looking for members to join a committee. So, if you have an interest in a board position, but you were not ready to run for an office, think about joining a committee under that specific position. We will also have committee’s for Make, Bake & Buy, Best Practice Binder, Fundraisers, and Scholarships just to name a few.

Our scholarship winner will be at our July meeting. I would love to see a lot of our members and guests there to welcome Gabrielle and her mom at the meeting. Enjoy the summer weather!

Always find a reason to smile 😊
