March: From the President
What makes you happy? Have you ever really thought about that phrase? Happiness can mean so many different things. Is your happiness dependent on money, status, and job title, or is it waking up without a headache, spending an extra hour with a loved one or just getting time to yourself to read a book or catch up on a movie? It is hard to put a price on happiness.
I have a friend whom I have known for quite a while and she never seemed happy or content. She looked at the negative aspect of any situation. While on a road trip years ago, we started talking about how her outlook affects her mood and sometimes others around her. She admitted she was afraid to be happy because she did not want to be let down. She grew up in a negative home and that was what she knew.
Little by little she started changing her habits and tried looking for the good in people and situations. She was the one who had to make the change. Today, she is much more positive than I have ever seen her. She still has negative thoughts that creep in, but for the most part she is a much happier and positive person.
Search for ways to find your happiness whatever that means to you. Do not let others take your happiness or glow away from you. I love how ABWA sisters support one another. I have seen so much love and caring from our members toward each other. The saying is definitely true for ABWA Women of Magnitude Express Network, “We are the women who fix another woman’s crown without telling the world is was crooked.”Strong women support strong women. Thank you to all of you for being brave, smart, and kind.
Always find a reason to smile,
Dianne Rybicki, League President
