November: From the President
How many of you have seen the movie or play The Fidler on the Roof? It is a favorite of mine and my husband’s. One of my favorite songs in the play is Tradition. Such a meaningful song that brings me back to my childhood and the traditions we had growing up. From Christmas’ in Chicago with my grandparents to listening to the radio on where Santa is and the magic of all the presents appearing when we woke up Christmas morning. I have so many fond memories of the holidays with family and friends. We have continued with many of the traditions we grew up with and have created some of our own. When my children were little, we would go to church on Christmas Eve and then come home to put out reindeer food for Rudolph and the other reindeers and then of course milk and cookies for Santa. Christmas morning my 3 kids would wait at the top of the stair until we got the camcorder (yes, I am dating myself..lol) and then they would run down the stairs to see what Santa had brought them. I loved seeing the look in their eyes and the excitement on their faces. Now as they are all grown-up, I see them creating their own traditions but also keeping some traditions we had when they were young.
I hope this holiday season each of you finds time to spend with family and friends. I also enjoy my “me” time. I am not much of a winter person, but I do love to be snuggled on my couch with a warm blanket, with the fireplace going and only the Christmas tree lights on, and watch the snow falling outside. It is so peaceful and relaxing. May you all find your peaceful time in the next few weeks.
I am so thankful for all of you! I look forward to hearing about your traditions at our December meeting.
Have a blessed Merry Christmas with your family and friends.
