Don't Forget to Find Room For 'Me Time'-- Letter from President Dianne Rybicki

I hope everyone is enjoying your summer.  It is definitely different from a year ago!  It’s nice to have most of the festivals back this year as well as other activities that were cancelled a year ago.

The new ABWA Board is excited for the new league year starting in August.  We of course want to increase our membership, but also want to provide our members with social events, on going education, and amazing speakers!  If you were at our July meeting, we talked about how important it is for all members to fill out the Member interest Survey.  An important part of the survey is where you can list topics for speakers for next year.  This information guides the VP of Programming in securing speakers of interest for our members.  There is now an electronic version of the member interest survey that is posted on Facebook as well as on our website.  Please take some time and fill out the survey as we would like input from all members.  Please have this completed by our August meeting.

As we head into the month of August, I encourage all of you to find some “me time.”  As women, we take on so many responsibilities with our careers and families.  The one that gets neglected is us.  Me time can mean different things to different people.  I would love to hear at our August meeting what were some ways you found time to pamper yourself.  Sharing is caring!

I look forward to seeing everyone at our August 10th meeting where we will be installing the new board for 2021-2022 and having a fun luncheon as we kick off the new year!
Be kind and smile everyday.

Ditch the Pivot, Life and Shift Instead

the importance of networking, and how to network effectively.  Beth Ann told the group to get away from the ‘pivot’ because you just go in circles and get nowhere but instead to lift and shift.  Lift what you need on your calendar and shift how you network.  Always keep cards on you.  Research who you want to meet and the information that you need to strike up a conversation.  Research events, who’s the sponsor?  Who do you need to meet from that organization?  Make sure you’re connecting with them.  Also haunting the bar is a great way to meet people (when they’re happy). Standing in line is also a great way to meet people.  If there isn’t good conversation in line, get out and try again.

Member Interest Survey

To ensure that we are meeting member needs, member interest surveys are completed with what members want to see presented in the next league year.  Make sure you complete this survey by the August meeting!
