Great News and Fun from President Dianne Rybicki

Great news.…..everyone likes to hear that positive phrase!  After this past year, I feel we all need to hear great news more often.  Why, as women, is it hard for us to share our successes?  When we have a win in our business we should and need to share that with others.  Why?  Because for one it feels good.

Success can mean different things to each of us.  In business, success could be landing a new client, nailing a presentation, scheduling a meeting with a potential client, taking an online class, or finishing a project you’ve been putting off.  Not all achievements come easy.  This is where sharing becomes a learning and teachable moment.  Maybe the person you are sharing with has had the same struggles and has learned from you on ways to overcome some obstacles.  Or maybe you uncover a different perspective on how to connect with a prospect.  Many positive effects can come from sharing.

This is one of the many reasons I love being in ABWA.  Yes, we have great monthly meetings with fabulous members and speakers.  But it is the connections and activities outside of our monthly meetings that are just as important.  We had a super fun event at Board and Brush in May.  As you can see from the picture, we all made different things and showed off our personalities.  We had members and guests attend!  That is what is great about getting to know other members and guests.  You learn so much from each other when you can sit down and really ask questions, both personally and professionally.  Hence, that is where the sharing comes back into play.  Don’t ever feel like you should not be proud of your successes.  Shout them out!!

I encourage all members to find time in the next couple of months to connect with 2 or more members that you do not know that well.  Meet for coffee, lunch or cocktails J  You will be surprised how much you learn in that short time frame.  And share that interaction at our meeting or on Facebook.  If you are a little shy on asking someone to meet, please reach out to me and I will arrange a meeting and join you if you want!  I look forward to hearing about members getting together and sharing new things they learned.

Always find a reason to smile!

Time is of the Essence: Managing Your Calendar for Success

In the educational portion of our meeting, Christie Browning provided some great insight on managing the unmanageable, TIME!  By using visual aids of two dozen golf balls, a tennis ball and an uncooked EGG, she showed us how different areas in our lives take different priorities and how to keep what’s sacred and what will bounce by identifying them and setting your priorities when 'life happens'.

Special Anniversary Celebration- Michelle Crone

As part of our June meeting, we celebrated long-time ABWA member Michelle Crone. As of June 27th, Michelle will be an ABWA member for 25 years. That is an accomplishment in and of itself and worth celebrating. But Michelle’s involvement with ABWA isn’t just the longevity of her membership, but the many, many leadership positions she’s held, the committees she’s served on, the numerous ways she’s volunteered over the years and countless hours Michelle has given ABWA.
