May: From the President
At our May meeting we celebrated our 7-year anniversary of the induction of Women of Magnitude Express Network. We have had incredible women visit our group and many of them have become ABWA members.
While COVID had an impact on our membership, I am happy to see our membership thrive and grow once again. This has happened because of our members inviting guests to our amazing meetings. The theme of our June meeting will be on Networking.
The definition of networking is “the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts.” Networking can be intimidating to some people. It is not always easy to approach someone you have never met.
Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. As our own Beth Ann Riecke taught us – always have business cards in your pocket. Also, you should always make eye contact and dress professionally. A common mistake people make when meeting new people is that they are thinking of the next question to ask instead of really listening to what the other person is saying. Try to be in be in the moment. Smile and have fun!
These are just a few tips to think about before a attending a networking event. We will talk about more networking tips at our June 14th meeting. I would love to have all members bring a guest to our June meeting.
As a reminder, please rsvp to our monthly meetings by 8am on Monday, the day before our meeting.
Always find a reason to smile 😊
