Congratulations to Woman of the Year, Cheryl Schmandt!

The March meeting was brimming with excitement!

First off, it was our distinct honor to award Women of Magnitude’s Woman of the Year Award.  The Woman of the Year award is awarded annual to a league member who has shown outstanding achievement.  All applicants apply listing their achievements in and outside of ABWA.

The applications are then reviewed anonymously by a panel of three independent judges.

Our Woman of the Year for the 2020-2021 league year is Cheryl Schmandt.

Financial Education with Jamie Wisely-Heckman

In our educational section of the meeting, Jaime Wilsey-Heckman presented us with a variety of tools to use to create a stable financial future.

Tools like debt stacking, Financial Independence Number (FIN) and financial GPS (such as budgeting) to find a way to take control of your financial future and live out your purpose.

This educational moment helped us all learn tips and tricks to looking at financial goals but short and long term.

Thank you, Jamie for sharing your knowledge with us!

President's Letter

As I sit here writing this, the snow is still coming down.  I am not a cold weathered person, but I do enjoy watching the snow fall from the sky.  It looks so pretty and peaceful.  One of the benefits of working from home since last March is that I do not have to drive in the bad weather.  Like we have discussed at our monthly meetings, sometimes it is hard to be positive with all we have gone through in the last year.  I always try to be positive and look at the bright side of things, but that is not always easy to do.  One tip I do when the negative thoughts start creeping in, I write down all of the positives of a situations.  This helps to replace the negative ones.  Try it and let me know if it helps put you in a better mood.

We had a great February meeting.  I was thrilled to induct Linzy Elizabeth and Malorie Gasper into our ABWA League.  If you have not had a chance to meet either of them or Oksana Ireland who went through the new member installation in January, please reach out and introduce yourself, invite them to coffee, lunch or a virtual meeting.

Marilyn Lash, our former District V VP was our speaker and as usual she was amazing!  She went through the different levels and opportunities at the national level offices and many ways to get more involved in ABWA.  She shared a lot of great information and we appreciate her and her husband for driving down from Michigan to be at our meeting in person.

Our regional conference is March 5th and 6th.   I am looking forward to attending this year as a first-time attendee.  For those of us that will be attending, look for us to share some take ways at our March meeting.

Be on the look-out for information from Angie, our VP of Membership as she will be sending out dates for our March Show up 4 lunch!  If you have not attended in the past, try to do so in March.  All you do is pick the day you want to meet for lunch and you “show up 4 lunch” and 3 other ABWA members will join you.  It’s a surprise as to who you will have lunch with that day.

Our March speaker is Jaime Wilsey-Heckman and our meal sponsor is Tracy Sweet.  As a reminder, everyone is always required to wear a mask except for when seated.  Parkview staff does a great job of serving us and keeping everyone safe.  We had a great turnout at our February meeting.  Please feel free to invite a guest or two to the meeting and they can experience the greatness of ABWA!  Hope to see everyone on March 9th!

Always be kind!

Dianne
